#7: Letting Ideas Breathe
This week: creativity in unexpected places, green psychology, edible tech, and anime-inspired jazz.
☀️ Ideas Arrive Late (and That’s Okay)
We tend to treat creativity like a machine. Plug in, push hard, and expect brilliance on demand. But the best ideas rarely arrive on cue. They show up in the shower, mid-run, during a quiet walk, while stirring a pot of soup or staring out a train window.
For me, this is a habit I’m trying to break - expecting creativity to clock in right when I do. Instead, I’m experimenting with more short breaks in my day, trusting that good ideas love to sneak in when the pressure’s off.
My last couple of ideas came during my morning walks. A few of them also popped up while I was out with friends, talking random things. Other recent ones came while I was entertaining a hobby, planning trips, doing grocery shopping or, the famous creativity booster, the shower.
So this week, we’re leaning into that quiet truth: creativity isn’t a task, it’s a rhythm. And maybe the best thing we can do for our ideas… is to give them room.

☀️ 3 Actions to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Start your day with five minutes of drawing. No rules, no goals. Just move the pen and see what comes out.
Try a “No-Goal Walk.”. Leave your phone at home, don’t listen to anything, and don’t try to think of anything specific. Let your mind wander freely with no expectations.
Reverse your usual “scroll time.” Instead of reaching for your phone in your usual downtime moment (e.g. lunch or bed), try 5 minutes of daydreaming or people-watching. Let boredom stir things up
